ANNUAL EDUCATION REPORT

Dear Parents and Community Members:

We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2011-2012 educational progress for Shields Elementary School. The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and teacher quality.  If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Shelly DuCharme (Principal) for assistance.

For 2011-2012, Shields Elementary School made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in English language arts and mathematics. While we are pleased to have reached this important goal, we are continuously working to improve. We appreciate the continued support of parents, staff and our community in this effort.

State law requires that we also report the following additional information:

School attendance boundaries are set by the Board of Education. All students meeting the academic testing requirements of this school are enrolled to attend. Out-of-district students apply through Schools of Choice.

Shields Elementary School is in the third year of a five year school improvement plan.

Swan Valley Schools does not offer an elementary specialized school opportunity.

A copy of the core curriculum may be obtained from the curriculum office at the Shields Elementary School office. The core curriculum is currently being implemented. There are no variances from the state's model.
