Myname is Ms. Laundra and I will be your child’s teacher.I would like to thank you for giving me theopportunity to be a huge part of your child’s education.
Some things that willhelp you and your child be prepared for school every day are:
Daily Folder – This is the folder sent home on the first day of school with your child’s name on the front. The folder will be sent home every night and is expected to be returned to school every morning. This is the way that I will get notes and school work home to you, and also a way for you to get information back to me.I will check them every morning and I ask that you check them every evening for important information and to see your child’s work that has been done in the class.
Any money that is sent to school for lunch, library fines, book orders, etc., should be put in an envelope with a name on the envelope and what it is for.
Gym attire – A gym shirt and a pair of tennis shoes are required for gym class. If your child doesn’t have these things, Mrs. Conger will make a note of this and it will be reflected on their report card. Please send these items with your son or daughter. They will be kept in their locker so they have them every gym class.
Transportation – Please send a note if your child is going to home a different way than usual so I can remind them at the end of the day.
Lunch – This time is always a challenge and children need to know before they come to school if they are taking hot lunch or have a lunch from home.I would also appreciate it if parents didn’t bring in fast foods for their child at lunch time. This is a distraction to other children in the class and doesn’t help with healthy food habits.
Snack – In our room we will have an afternoon snack and your child is responsible for bringing their own snack. The snack should be something healthy and not be something that needs silverware to eat.Fruit, raisins, granola bars, and crackers are some examples of good snacks.Sweets in moderation are not bad.No drinks are allowed.
Homework – I will not be assigning daily homework.I will be sending home sight word lists, spelling words, and math facts that your child will be responsible for studying.Your child is also responsible for reading at night.I will update you with this through the daily folder.
Picking up your child – Please do not come directly to the room if you need to pick your child up.You must check into the office first and the secretary will call our room to send your child down to the office. This policy is for security and your child’s own safety.
Website – You may visit our classroom website at www.swanvalley.k12.mi.us navigate your way to Shield’s Elementary and go to teachers pages where you will see Ann Laundra 2010-2011.Activities that we do in class and pictures we be available for you to view.
Scholastic Book Orders – I will send home a book order each month. Please do not feel obligated to purchase books. This is just a way for families to buy books at a cheaper price.
Classroom parties are: Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day.
Toys – Students should not bring ipods, Gameboys, stuffed animals, collectable cards, or any other toys or electronics from home. The school can’t be responsible if anything happens to them or they get stolen. It is better to just leave them at home. My saying is: “Toys from Home, Stay at Home.”
I am looking forward to a GREAT year withyour child. If you have any questionsplease call me at 921-4766 before or after school or email me at alaundr@swanvalley.k12.mi.us.
