My name is Jamie Medema and I teach Special Education and Reading. You might have known me as Jamie Panko from Shields Elementary. I have been happily married since 2007, hence the name change. This year I am teaching 8th grade Reading along with 7th grade special education reading, math, and english.  My conference period is from 7:45 to 8:30.

This is my eighth year of teaching and my eighth year at Swan Valley! However, I have had a lot of classroom experience. I have taught at Chesaning, Bullock Creek, and Midland Public Schools either substituting or student teaching. I attended Central Michigan University where I received my Bachelors Degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Emotional Impairments in December 2004.  I am certified to also teach general education reading in sixth through eighth grade.  I attended Saginaw Valley State University and earned my Masters Degree in Teaching Special Education with an emphasis on Learning Disabilities in August 2008.

I attended Bridgeport-Spaulding Schools since Kindergarten and graduated in 1999.

I live with my husband, Chris, four year old son, Gavin, and 6 month old son, Hayden. Gavin is starting 4 year old preschool this year.  Hayden has been a great addition to our family!  We enjoy going for walks, playing with balls, pushing trucks, playing with dinosaurs, watching movies (favorite is Transformers 1  and 2), swimming, and going to the zoo.  We also have three cats.
